- Song School
It's the holidays and I, for one, am excited about a gift I received: money towards a ticket to The Song School! The Song School happens every August before the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival and is taught by many of the fine musicians who actually play at the Folks Festival. I can't wait!
In preparation for this great experience, I have decided to attempt to write a song a week. My goal for this week was to write a holiday song, which I did, and recorded. You can take a listen - and even download it - at this link: http://soundcloud.com/andrealynnmusic/christmas-song
I have also put a video of myself singing it in front of my Christmas tree on the Videos section of this website :)
Merry Christmas from me to you! I hope good comes to you in many unexpected ways this season!

- Hot! summer recordings
Summer is not my favorite time to be in a studio. The reason being, to get a good recording without any background noise you need to turn off all your fans, close all your windows, and sweat it out! (and I'm from Michigan - hot weather isn't exactly my forte...)
But it seems that I always manage to find the most time to record in the summer. Last summer I started recording my "The Mountains and The Sea" album, and this summer I am busy recording a kids gospel CD with Chuck Morris and Jennifer Thompson.
There has certainly been a few bumps along the way with this CD - Chuck had two computers stolen in the process! One was taken from his van at a live show, and the other was an eBay scam! Despite these hurdles, though, Chuck has almost all of the percussion and bass guitar parts done (~2 week delay...it is sounding really great so far!). We are shooting for a finish date of early August. This week I am working on adding my guitar and vocals to the mix.
Once this project is complete, I should have some live shows coming up for you this fall. Two have been booked so far - more details coming soon!
Stay cool this summer, enjoy the long days, and I hope to see you again very soon.

- Tonight: Andrea Lynn CD release at The Walnut Room
- "This third release finds the Denver based singer-songwriter collaborating with friends like pianist Rachel Zylstra and Lotus percussionist Chuck Morris to build her stripped-down but complex folk-based sound. But it is the powerful but gentle tone of Lynn's voice that captures most of the attention, as elements of influences like Indigo Girls can be clearly heard." [Read More...]
